Immersing Himself in his Art

National Art Day seems to be the perfect time to show off some turtle art. Back in the day, Rocky, Gracie, and Big Black Bart all created works of art in shades of green at the Ocean City Fine Arts League’s Irish Night!

Rocky really did immerse himself in his art: he got his nose in the paint, tried to climb under the canvas, and wiped his eye with his paint-smeared arm! It was big time bathtime when we got home that night.

Turtle Art

This was a once-in-a lifetime experience, with all turtle art proceeds to benefit the Fine Arts League.

It was once-in-a-lifetime because the paint got all over the turtles—more than expected!

Turtletoter and tenor Charlie Buckley sang Irish songs at this event while the turtles created their works of art.

To see works by Gracie and Bart as well, SCROLL DOWN…

More Turtle Art

Our turtle artists were a real hit, and Rocky made the NBC10 11:00 news!

Gracie tried eating blue paint—after all, she does love blueberries—and blue paint stained both sides of artist Gracie’s lower jawline: again, we had a big turtle bathtime later! Luckily our turtles love their baths and soaks.

Wondering where Spike was? Spike was still a tiny 1 1/2-year-old at that point, and since he is a water turtle and we foresaw paint everywhere, we knew we didn’t want Spike to get any paint on him to later also get in his water.

Art by Bart

Bart also wanted to become one with the paint, also trying to eat it!

National Art Day, October 25th, is the birthday of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.

Autumnal Art

We thought we’d leave you with turtle art that encompasses some fall colors.

National Art Day celebrates all forms of art—paintings, sculpture, photography, architecture, music, and more.

We hope you celebrate your own artistic passion and creativity in some way on National Art Day today!

Thanks as always for reading.
