Sun and Snow

It was a surprisingly refreshing walk with the snow outlining the path in greater detail.

We feel sure there must have been wild turtles out here as well as other places in Cape May County on February 12th last month when we saw 2 wild turtles sunning in Seaville in the 62 degree sunny weather!

Over the Ice

There are many water features in this wildlife management area to observe and enjoy.

We also saw the head of a red-bellied turtle on another unseasonably warm day last month on February 23rd in East Creek Pond in Belleplain State Forest!

Again, turtles we have seen here are painted turtles, snapping turtles and red-bellied turtles.

Snowy Woods

Again, we really enjoyed the beauty of the snow-covered woods as we walked along the snow-free paths.

Cox Hall Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in Villas, New Jersey, in Lower Township, Cape May County.

Same Thing Only Different

We feel so fortunate we can enjoy this area during all seasons!

Many of the paths through here are paved, making them nice for parents pushing strollers.

Running Water

Some of the water we saw that day on this trail was frozen, some moving along.

Hailing from the Finger Lakes Region in upstate New York and from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, we are used to and enjoy snow…but now that we live here in Cape May County we’re also happy to see it melt!

Icy Pond

Even ice can create a different winter water beauty all its own.

Think of all the turtles hibernating under the ice throughout this wildlife management area!

For a totally different creature feature we hadn’t noticed here before, SCROLL DOWN…

Bird Box

We noticed this bird box next to the trail.

We took another picture to clarify its meaning for us and for you.

A Closer View

It was nice to find out this New Jersey Society and Cox Hall Creek Wildlife Management Area are working together to cater to bluebirds!

We thank you as always for reading and for taking this snowy winter walk with us (goodbye, winter)!
